Believe me, it’s not easy for me to reach out for support again. But fate has dealt me another heavy blow.
My long-time team member Chaminda is seriously ill. He has been a valued part of the DCC family for many years. With his calm and helpful nature, tireless dedication, and deep love for animals, he has earned a special place in all our hearts.
Chaminda suffered several brain hemorrhages. After receiving initial treatment at the hospital in Galle, he had to be rushed to a specialist clinic in Colombo. Only there can the highly complex surgery – one that could save his life – be performed.
The situation is critical: without this surgery, Chaminda has no chance of survival. However, the medical expenses are far beyond what he and his family can afford. Approximately 4,500,000 LKR (around 13,200 Euros) are needed for the surgery. I have already paid 200,000 LKR (roughly 900 euros) for his medical bills, but that is still a long way from what is needed.
I am committed to making sure that Chaminda receives the surgery. Saving his life is my top priority. At the same time, this decision presents a significant financial challenge for my organization. Funds that are urgently needed to keep the DCC running on a daily basis will now have to be redirected toward Chaminda’s treatment.
