Perle, Sidney & Iron

Name: Perle, Sidney & Iron
Breed: Mix
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog for: 8 years and 5 months
Description:

Perle, Sidney and Iron are three dogs ensuring the survival of a poor Sri Lankan family.
The three dogs were adopted by the so-called "Lottery Uncle" through our DCC 50+ Program, the social project to help animals and people. Lottery Uncle used to sell lottery tickets by bicycle but had to retire due to his age. His wife used to be a shoe maker. Since there son is suffering from a severe disability due to a bomb blast during the civil war, the family's finances are very scarce.

Now the family takes care of the dogs and receives a monthly pension in return.

Perle (this translates to Pearl) is a very loveable dog that was brought with an ear infection by two German tourists from Matara. The rescuer paid the treatment as well as her castration and became her first sponsors to help financing a place in our DCC 50+ program.

Sidney and Iron were two dogs we have been caring for since they were only little pups - sadly, Sidney passed in January and Iron in October 2019.

But - of course - we continue our care for Perle.

In April 2022 we got a heartbreaking call as the family informed us Perle had died of a snake bite. It was probably a Cobra.
Run free, beloved Perle.
