Lincoln

Name: Lincoln
Breed: Dachshund
Gender: Male
Age: ca 7 years and 5 months
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog since: 7 years and 1 month
Description:

Little dachshund Lincoln was still a puppy when he was secretly dumped like garbage in front of our clinic. He represents all pedigree dogs in Sri Lanka that have to suffer the consequences of horrible breeding conditions. Pedigree dogs are a big business on the island and so breeders breed dogs nonsensically. They neither take the health condition nor the degree of kinship of the mother and father dog into consideration. The results are dogs with weak immune systems, skin problems, deformations, blindness and all sorts of disabilities.

Lincoln had no control over his legs and could only move by sliding across the floor. With medicine, extra nutrition, massages, heat treatments and continuous physiotherapy were able to improve his mobility.

It was a long road but Lincoln is now in such a good condition we could even put him in our DCC 50+ program! He spent 5 happy years with his foster family until we got betrayed by them. They moved to Colombo and left Lincoln behind. He was completely on his own!! We brought him back to the clinic where we continue our care for this lovely boy.

Please help us to bring attention to the suffering of pedigree dogs in Sri Lanka!
