Ewa was a double victim...
Being the "product" of a Sri Lankan Puppy Mills poor Ewa also fell into the hands of an absolute incompetent owner who missed to have her wounds treated and who neglected her to its worst.
When Ewa finally arrived at the DCC she was more dead than alive...
...sadly this has to be considered the Standard Situation for Pedigree Dogs in Sri Lanka.
We nursed Ewa up and soon the nimble trustful dog grew to our hearts so much, that we dedicated her story an own Facebook Album .
On one hand to give daily updates on her progress, on the other todenunciate the reckless Puppy Mill Owners.
The more Ewa improved, the higher the interest of her former owner in her became and while he already collected a ransom of 10.000/- Rshe went to the police to reclaim his "dearly loved dog".
His true goal was clear - though Ewa got Birth defects herself, e.g. ahydrocephalus, he still wanted to abuse her as a Breeding Machine...
To spare her such a fate we sent Ewa on "Vacation" during the ongoing negotiations....
...and finally bought her free.
To make very sure her former owner would never be able to take Ewa as hostage again she stayed on this "permanent vacation" at the placeof a DCC Team Member.
A big Thank You at this point again, to all those who acted that swift tohelp Ewa !
Ewa recovered nicely and in spite of her birth defects and an underdevelopped immune system we hoped she would make it - but in the end her harsh past took it's toll.
Run free Ewa - the memory remains !
