Sibba

Name: Sibba
Breed: Mix
Gender: Male
Age: ca 13 years
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog for: 10 years and 2 months
Description:

Sibba was an owner dog which has been under our care since a train accident in 2014. In the accident his hind leg was shatterd and had to be amputated. Quite often amputated dogs are not beautiful enough in the eyes of their owners but Sibba was lucky and could return to his family after treatment was finished. (Of course), we conducted the surgery for free as hardly any Sri Lankan family can afford such a ssurgical intervention.

Unfortunately, Sibba reacted with intolerance to the suture material some time later and he had to undergo surgery again. But he recovered well and could return to his family once again. In the following months poor Sibba had several stays as in-patient in the clinic. He is very prone to ear infections and other sicknesses, sadly his family ignored his suffering and slowly lost interest in their loyal friend.

To spare Sibba from pain and more infections we decided to keep him in the clinic permanently. While Sibba was a lovely dog, with his three legs he was also one of the dogs nobody in Sri Lanka wants...

He spent a happy time as DCC Resident, but finally the his chronic Ehrlichiosis took its toll and he left us forever - Run free Sibba, the memory remains.
