Julia & Kalesi

Name: Julia & Kalesi
Breed: Mix
Gender: Female
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog for: 6 years
Description:

Julia and her daughter Kalesi were brought to us by our partner organisation Embark. They had found the two dogs terrified and tied up in a paddy field - left behind to die. The reason for this animal cruelty: Julia was pregnant again. Although we were already overcrowded, we took the two in and gave them a place in our mother-child-area where they received first aid immediately.

Especially the expectant mother was in need of good care and supplementary feed to be strengthened for the birth. By regular ultrasound scans we checked if the unborn puppies were okay. For Julia it was a high-risk pregnancy.
Since Julia was long overdue our vets had to conduct an emergency Caesarean operation. We could rescue one puppy but sadly it didn't have enough power. and passed a day after his birth.

Nobody took interest in the adult dogs Julia and Kalesi and so we put them in our unique DCC 50+ program.

Their poor foster mum provides a loving home for them and receives a monthly pension in return. We visit Julia and Kalesi every month to make sure they are doing well.

Sadly, Kalesi passed due to renal failure in January 2020. We continued our care for Julia until she, too, passed. This was completely unexpected and we couldn't find the reason for her death.
