Samira
Name: | Samira |

Age: | ca 10 years and 8 months |
Neutered/Spayed: | Yes |

DCC dog since: | 8 years and 8 months |
Samira and her 6 pups were found on one of our Daily Tours.
They were lying in a ditch - without a real chance to survive....
Of course we took them to the clinic immediately and tried to nurse them up - but her pups didn't make it - they were just too weak...
At least we were able to save Samira, vaccinated and neutered her.
But in her "age" it is close to impossible for to find a ReHome Place. So we gave her a place in one of our external packs at one of our long-time staff members and continued to provide her food and (medical) care.
In exchange for a wall built around his compound the staff member promised to give Samira and two "colleagues" a home for life.....
...sadly he didn't keep his promise - shortly after he had left the DCC he returned Samira and the other dogs. To spare them from more distress we had to find a solution quickly and so we started looking for a suitable place in our DCC 50+ program. Luckily, we were able to find a family willing to take Samira and her friends Otello and Collien. Since Otello suffers from a pancreas disorder we have to visit and check every day to make sure he receives his life saving medicine. That way, we can also maintain a close eye on Samira and Collien.
The DCC 50+ is a true success but it also means significant additional costs for the clinic.
Please support dogs like Samira, so we may continue to rescue strays out of their misery on the streets of Sri Lanka !
