Stevie

Name: Stevie
Breed: Cocker Spaniel
Gender: Male
Age: ca 13 years and 7 months
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog since: 3 years and 5 months
Description:

The first time we saw Stevie we had to fight back tears. He spent his entire life in a musty cage and was only poorly cared for.

He was emaciated, his fur was completely matted and he had multiple wounds. The worst was in his ear, where maggots had already taken root.

The owner was so scared of his own dog that he almost didn't dare to open the cage. We brought Stevie to our clinic where we took care of him over many weeks. Since he had never experienced love and affection, it was challenging to conduct the treatments and, especially on the first few days, he often snapped. No wonder! He had to learn first that we mean well with him.

Of course, we didn't return him to his owner! Instead, lucky Stevie was adopted by one of our staff members. We visit him monthly to make sure he gets spoiled. If he will ever need medical care again we will be there for him!
