Aushra

Name: Aushra
Breed: Mix
Gender: Female
Age: ca 7 years and 5 months
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog since: 7 years and 3 months
Description:

One could say somebody had put presents in front of the DCC on Boxing Day 2016. But in fact it was a sad start into the day for our staff since the "presents" - as almost every day - were puppies which had been dumped like garbage. It was a total of nine (!) puppies out of which one had already passed due to the previous neglect.

The remaining eight puppies were taken in and thanks to our immedate care we were able to save all of them. Despite our limited space - especially in the puppy ward - we could not leave them to their fate but nursed them up until they were healthy and old enough for their Rehome.

Also little Aushra was lucky to find a new home. However, once again, we were shown the little value most of the dogs in Sri Lanka have: after a few weeks Aushra was returned to us because she liked to chew on shoes.

By now, Aushra was too old for another Rehome and her being female limits their chances for adoption further.

Luckily, our staff consists of true animal lovers and so Aushra has found a caring home with our employee Iresha. Of course, we continue our care and visit her regularly as well as pay for her vaccinations and treatments if needed.
