Garry

Name: Garry
Breed: Mix
Gender: Male
Age: ca 13 years and 1 month
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog for: 12 years and 10 months
Description:

We found Garry on the streets of Sri Lanka suffering from babesiosis and severe diarrhea. We were able to treat him successfully but due to his age Garry never found a ReHome place.

As our compound capacities are limited we found him and two more dogs a place at a Buddhist temple. We supported the monk with rice, dry food and chicken meat for the dogs. Like this, Garry had a good home for many years. Unfortunately, the monk started asking for more and more support and eventually threatened to put the dogs on the street if the DCC refused to pay for a (costly) wall around the temple compound.

So, we were forced to take Garry and the other dogs back with us. Despite his loving character, Garry had become another dog nobody wanted.

Therefore, we had to place him in our DCC 50+ project, the program to help animals AND needy people.

Of course we still provided all medical care for Garry and his poor foster family receives support, too.

Garry spent many happy years until he sadly passed in June 2022 due to kidney failure. We will never forget you, Garry!
