Winny was brought to us by a transport driver from Colombo.
Although Colombo is actually outside our service area, it was immediately clear to us that we could not turn this poor dog away – not after the exhausting three-hour journey she had already endured.
Winny had been hit by a van, and the initial examination revealed fractures in both her left hind leg and her right front leg.
The hind leg was so badly injured that we had to decide on amputation the very same day. Fortunately, we were able to stabilize the front leg with a splint.
For Winny, this meant learning to walk all over again – a long and difficult process. But she faced it with remarkable courage. Today, she has recovered well and enjoys her life as a DCC dog at our clinic.
Since adoption is rarely possible for a three-legged dog in Sri Lanka, Winny will remain with us permanently.
