Helena

Name: Helena
Breed: Mix
Gender: Female
Age: ca 7 years and 3 months
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog since: 6 years and 11 months
Description:

Helena most likely grew up without proper nutrition, i.e. mother milk. Due to a lack of calcium her legs are crippled. Being a disabled dog she was secretly dumped in a carton box in front of our clinic.

In addition of her being malnourished she also suffers from a weak immune system and is prone to diseases. A skin test revealed that she had demodicosis.

Sadly, disabled dogs don't have any value in Sri Lanka and therefore, poor little Helena won't have any chance of finding a loving home through our Rehome project. But despite our very tight budget we will continue our care for Helena and accompany her throughout her entire life.

If we can find many kind sponsors we will even be able to put her in our social adoption scheme, the DCC 50+. Within this program elder locals take in a dog and receive a pension in return. For the elder this is most of the times the only income they have. We check on all dogs in the program regularly and provide all medical supervision for free.

Your donation or sponsorship will help us to continue our care for abandoned dogs like Helena.
