When we rescued Alma, she was standing with her calf in the dirty driveway to the slaughterhouse - with a view of the conspecifics who had already been killed.

We bought her free and took her and her calf to the Dog Care Clinic. Here she was greeted happily by Rudi. Like most of the cows here, Alma was severely malnourished. We brought her back to normal weight and will keep her with us for the rest of her life.
