Although cows are much more valued than dogs here, almost all of them are severely malnourished - including Emma. She comes from the same slaughterhouse from which we rescued the other cows.
During the initial examination at the clinic, we discovered that she had a foreign body in the hoof that had to be removed. The examinations and treatments of the cows are far more complex than those of the dogs as we need more staff to keep the big animals still.
Emma's pain while walking quickly disappeared and she continued her care for calf Holly who is a grown-up cow by now. A few months later, Emma gave birth to another calf which now is part of the DCC cow family.
