We found Dimple on one of our daily tours in Unawatuna. He was in a pitiful and life-risking condition: he had a hole on his forehead filled with maggots and was suffering from severe demodicosis. Our staff member didn't hesitate to catch Dimple and bring him to the clinic immediately.
The maggots were removed painstakingly and Dimple's wounds were taken care of. He received treatment for his skin disease over many weeks and came back to health. We could not put him back on the street and so Dimple enjoyed his life as a DCC resident.
Sadly, we are the only organization in Sri Lanka checking the area for injured and sick dogs daily to provide treatment for them. It is very expensive to conduct our tours but they are essential for the survival of the stray dogs.
In October 2025, we had to say a heartbreaking goodbye to Dimple after a bad cancer diagnosis. We miss you so much, Dimple!
