Heaven had a huge skin tumor when he was discovered by tourists. He was also almost furless due to an advanced fungal infection.
His overall condition was alarming and without the intervention of the tourists he would have died a painful death on Sri Lanka's streets. Many would have given up on the street dog due to his age, but we amputated the affected leg and saved Heaven's life.
He will certainly never be completely healthy again, but hopefully we can give him happy sunset years with us.
Update 02/24: We would have loved to have given Heaven many more happy years under our protection, but unfortunately we could not prevent the tumor from spreading and so Heaven left us on 20.02.2024. Our consolation is that he was at least allowed to experience happiness and love at the end of his life.
