As he did so many evenings before, Arlo was peacefully napping by the side of the road when a car suddenly approached. The driver slowly steered towards him – not to avoid him, but with the cruel intention of driving over his head as slowly as possible, killing him in the most brutal and horrifying way. Thankfully, this unimaginable act was captured by a surveillance camera. Otherwise, it would be hard to believe the level of cruelty that some people in Sri Lanka are capable of. Incidents like this are often simply dismissed as an "accident." But what happened to Arlo was anything but an accident. Even we, who are confronted with unimaginable animal suffering and heartbreaking indifference every single day, are left speechless by such cruelty.

By what can only be described as a miracle, Arlo suffered "only" severe abrasions and extensive bruising around his neck.
After this horrific trauma, Arlo will never have to return to the streets again. He will stay at the DCC permanently, where he has already found his best friend, Marina. Together with his new pack, he can finally begin a life filled with safety, love, and the security every dog deserves.
To make this possible, we rely on sponsorships.
