Kayo

Name: Kayo
Breed: Mix
Gender: Male
Age: ca 1 year and 1 month
Neutered/Spayed: No
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog for: 9 months
Description:

In June 2025, little Kayo – still a puppy – was abandoned right in front of our clinic, suffering from a severely injured leg and in considerable pain. Such a heartless act once again left us speechless!

Of course, we took Kayo in immediately and began medical treatment without delay. Despite all efforts, his leg could not be saved, and an amputation became necessary. While still in intensive care, he also suffered an allergic reaction to one of the administered medications. Fortunately, thanks to the swift and professional intervention of our team, he was able to recover from that as well.

Unfortunately, the chances of adoption for a dog with a disability in Sri Lanka are virtually nonexistent – and returning him to the streets is, of course, not an option.

Kayo therefore remained in the care of the Dog Care Clinic permanently. There, he received the medical attention he needed and was able to grow up in a safe environment.

Kayo’s immune system was unfortunately already so weakened that he contracted distemper in August 2025. His little body couldn’t bear the added burden – he didn’t make it and has sadly passed away.
