Sammy

Name: Sammy
Breed: Mix
Gender: Male
Age: ca 1 year and 8 months
Neutered/Spayed: No
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog for: 1 year and 4 months
Description:

Despite all the suffering he had to endure, Sammy was full of hope and joy for life.

He was found in a shocking condition – his body was covered in sticky tar.

We were just in time to save him. It took 1.5 hours to remove the sticky tar from his weakened body.

Sammy was battling a severe skin infection, he had babesiosis, and his hemoglobin level was dangerously low. As if that weren’t enough, he was also limping. So much suffering for such a young life...

But Sammy didn’t give up – and he actually survived the first critical phase!

We were so happy to see how much joy Sammy was able to experience over the past few weeks, despite the daily medication and treatment at the clinic. That made it all the more devastating when he contracted the severe distemper virus. His immune system was still significantly weakened due to his traumatic past and pre-existing conditions. Although he had received his basic vaccinations, the booster shot against distemper couldn’t be administered yet due to ongoing treatments. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Sammy in July 2025. The loss of this little fighter is almost impossible to put into words. We will never forget you, Sammy!
