Luna was brought to us in August 2023 by a foreign resident. He discovered the dog as she limped across the street in pain. Her front leg was broken and we were not sure if it could be saved. The man strictly refused an amputation and assured us that he would pick Luna up again when at least the wounds had healed. He wanted to pay all the costs and find a home for Luna.
We plastered the leg and treated the wounds. The man never came back. He didn't answer our calls and so the weeks went by. Despite the overcrowded clinic, we were forced to keep Luna with us. Due to the accident she has a walking disability and we might have to amputate after all. As a handicapped dog, Luna cannot go back to the streets under any circumstances.
We have been badly let down. The costs for Luna's stay now amount to several hundred Euros!!! Is that fair???
We are shocked by the man's behavior. Real love for animals must not end at our clinic gate!!!
All this is of course not Luna's fault and therefore we take care of her.
