With a worried face, the owner brought his beloved dog to us. Russi was hit by a tuktuk and suffered a complicated fracture.
We provided them with pain medication and carried out extensive examinations. Fortunately, she had no internal injuries, but an amputation was inevitable. Since the owner cannot afford such an operation, we performed the operation free of charge. Russi took her first steps the very next day.
When her wound healed, she was not picked up. The owner's "love" died out because disabled dogs are worthless in Sri Lanka. So now Russi is also a resident with us on the clinic premises. She is one of many abandoned owner dogs that we are now taking care of.
