Emilia and Naru, along with their respective littermates, were abandoned as puppies at the gates of the Dog Care Clinic.
We took them in and lovingly raised them on the clinic grounds – hoping that someone would come forward to offer them a home. In Sri Lanka, puppies generally have better chances of being adopted than adult dogs. Unfortunately, no one showed any interest in the two young dogs.
As time went by, they grew older, and their chances of being adopted steadily declined – until eventually, there was little hope left for them to find a home. Due to our limited capacity, we decided to include Emilia and Naru in our DCC50+ program.
As part of this program, families in need take in dogs that have no other chance of finding a home. These families provide the animals with a loving environment, while we support them monthly with financial aid. The dogs remain under our care: they are visited regularly, receive free medical treatment and vaccinations. A valuable step for the dogs – and a benefit for everyone involved!
Emilia and Naru now live together with Smarty and Florence in a wonderful DCC50+ home.
