Gustav is one of millions of street dogs. We discovered him on one of our field missions and it was immediately clear that he needed help. At the clinic, the comprehensive intake examination showed that Gustav had a severe fungal infection and was sick with babesiosis. This disease, which is transmitted by ticks, is usually fatal if not treated.
We kept Gustav in the clinic for a month until he was fully recovered. Then it was time to return him as a healthy, vaccinated and neutered dog to his known territory. The next day Gustav was suddenly standing in front of our clinic again. He wanted to stay with us instead of living on the streets.
Although we have limited space on the clinic grounds, we took Gustav back in. Now he lives with us as a resident and very much wishes to find some loving sponsors.
