One of our staff members discovered Louise in the middle of the night on her way home. The poor pit bull was tied to the clinic gate and left there by her heartless owner. Our staff member took in the distressed dog and brought her to the DCC the next morning.
Louise is a gentle and friendly dog, but her past was terrible. She was used as a breeding machine. When she was abandoned, she still was lactating and was cruelly separated from her puppies. They are now growing up without their mother, and surely, sooner or later, they will end up on the streets as well.
Louise should never again have to feel unwanted. She is now living with one of our DCC50+ families. Through the DCC50+ program, we place dogs who would otherwise have no chance with local people in need or with disabilities, who in return receive a small monthly pension from us. Of course, we continue to take full responsibility for our protégés: we visit them regularly in their new homes and cover the costs of veterinary care for the rest of their lives.
