Moon was heartlessly abandoned in the parking lot of our clinic. When our team tried to secure her, she reacted in panic and cried out in fear. It is hard to imagine what experiences she must have had with humans to trigger such terror.
At the clinic, however, Moon quickly revealed a different side. Her initial fear subsided, and she became open, playful, and affectionate with our team. Physically, Moon was healthy. But, unfortunately, due to her brown coat and due to the fact that she is a female, her chances of adoption locally were very limited, so we placed her with one of our DCC50+ families.
As part of the DCC50+ program, unwanted dogs are placed with local people in need or with disabilities, who receive a small monthly pension in return. At the same time, we assume lifelong responsibility for the dogs’ well-being, including unannounced welfare checks and full medical care.
To be able to cover these ongoing costs, we rely on sponsorships.
