Cable shared the fate of many dogs in Sri Lanka. When we found him, he had a deep, painful wound around his neck. Everything indicated that he had previously been tied up with a wire or cable – a heartbreaking reality that far too many street dogs on the island have to endure.

Very few dogs there wear a protective collar. Instead, chains are commonly fastened around their necks. Time and again, we also have to remove wires, cables, ropes, or even barbed wire that have cut deeply into their skin – just as they had in Cable's case.
At our clinic, his wound was treated, and we supported him throughout the long healing process. In the end, only a scar remained to remind us of the suffering he had once endured.
Sadly, because Cable was already an adult dog when he began looking for a home, he never found a ReHome place. Instead, he spent his life as a Resident at our clinic, where he was finally able to live in safety, comfort, and surrounded by love.
In June 2026, Cable suddenly and unexpectedly suffered a stroke. The damage was so severe that he would never have recovered, and with heavy hearts we had to make the difficult decision to let him go. We are deeply saddened by the loss of Cable. But we also know that, in time, our grief will give way to gratitude. Thanks to his wonderful sponsors, despite everything he had been through, Cable was able to spend his life with us, surrounded by love, care, and happiness. Run free, dear friend. You will always be in out hearts.
