Jonas

Name: Jonas
Breed: Mix
Gender: Male
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog for: 6 years
Description:

During our daily feeding tour Marina Möbius was approached by a dog owner who told her his dog was injured. Marina Möbius asked him to come to the clinic quickly and pointed out our free of charge treatments.
Sadly, the celebration of the Sinhalese New Year was more important to the man as he brought his dog only after one week. Since he refused to carry the poor soul from the car to the clinic gate Marina Möbius stepped in and brought the animal inside the clinic.

According to the owner, Jonas was a very aggressive dog - however, we quickly noticed his very calm and loving character.

His leg was in horrific condition and an amputation was inevitable. A blood check also reveiled that the poor guy had babesiosis - a deadly disease if not treated in time.

Needless to say: Jonas never returned to his useless owner. Since the clinic space is very limited we put him in our social adoption scheme, the DCC 50+ program. A local poor family is now taking care of him and receives a monthly pension from us in return. We visit him every month to make sure he is doing good.

Sadly, Jonas developed epilepsy and his seizures became more frequent and more severe. In April 2021 we had to let him go and he crossed rainbow bridge.

We will miss you, beloved Jonas!
