As a puppy, Kibo had to fend for himself without his mother. He lacked not only the warmth and care of his mom, but also the important nutrients of his mother's milk. Calcium deficiency led to severe deformation of his front legs. When the puppies are still young, this deficiency can be compensated and the bones can be strengthened, but poor Kibo received no help. He struggled to survive as a handicapped dog.
Eventually, our partner organization Embark became aware of him and rescued him. Since we have a lot of experience with the care of disabled dogs, Kibo came to us. With us he now lives in a small pack and receives a lot of care.
To our great dismay, Kibo died in June 2024 completely unexpectedly and without any previous signs of illness. We found him dead during our early morning check-up round.
