Mia

Name: Mia
Breed: Rottweiler
Gender: Female
Age: ca 6 years and 7 months
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog for: 1 year and 10 months
Description:

When one of our neighbors suddenly saw this Rottweiler in his garden, he was quite frightened. However, he quickly realized that the dog was friendly and trusting. He brought her to us. Mia was dumped by her owner because she was no longer useful for breeding. She had two tumors: a sticker sarcoma (TVT) and a tumor on her thigh. We removed the tumor in a surgery and treated Mia with Vincristine over the course of several weeks.

Mia's fate is typical for pedigree dogs in Sri Lanka. They are bought as small puppies and then kept as status symbols or are abused for breeding. When they get sick, they are simply disposed of like garbage.

After she was back to health Mia got adopted. We visited her regularly to make sure she was in good health.

In June 2024, we were shocked when the family called because of a snake bite. When we arrived it was already too late. Mia died far too young.

Run free Mia! We will never forget you!
