On our feeding tour, we suddenly discovered an unfamiliar dog. It was obvious that he was ill. From the very first second we met him, the dog was very trusting, so we suspected that he had once been an owner dog who had simply been abandoned due to his illness.
We brought the dog to the clinic and named him Oscar. In a long procedure, we removed countless ticks from his entire body. Tests and examinations revealed that he not only had a severe fungal infection, but also suffered from babesiosis. This disease is transmitted by ticks and is almost always fatal if left untreated. During his several weeks of treatment, Oscar felt at home with us and so we finally decided to keep him forever.
In September 2025, we had to say goodbye to Oscar with heavy hearts. Sadly, his many pre-existing conditions ultimately led to heart failure.
Nevertheless, we are grateful that he was able to experience a loving and happy time at the DCC, especially considering the terrible condition he was in when he first came to us.
