Rayan
| Name: | Rayan |
| Breed: | Schäferhund |
| Gender: | Male |
| Age: | ca 10 years and 7 months |
| Neutered/Spayed: | Yes |
| Vaccinated: | Yes |
| DCC dog for: | 4 years and 1 month |
Rayan came to us at the end of June 2022. He had severe injuries on all four paws, and we had to remove countless maggots from the wounds. Wound healing on paws is particularly challenging, so Rayan had to undergo daily wound care for many weeks.
It was more than obvious that his owner had not cared for him at all. When he brought Rayan to the clinic, he even stated that he had no interest in taking him back after treatment. We certainly did not object, as there was no way this poor dog should ever have returned to that owner.
After Rayan had recovered, we began searching for a loving new home and eventually found an interested adopter. Unfortunately, it soon became clear that the new owner was overwhelmed by the German Shepherd, and so Rayan returned to the DCC.
We wanted to spare Rayan another unsuccessful adoption attempt, so we integrated him into one of the DCC dog packs on the clinic grounds. As a resident dog, he went on to live a happy and well-cared-for life.
In June 2026, Rayan’s condition deteriorated due to his long-standing filariosis, and with heavy hearts we had to let him go. Rayan reached the age of ten years.
We are deeply saddened by his loss, but at the same time we are grateful that Rayan had such wonderful sponsors, whose support allowed him to spend his life with us in safety, comfort, and loving care.
