Messy was brought to us by her owner after her spay wound had become infected. Unfortunately, he had waited so long to seek help that the wound was already infested with maggots. Why dog owners react so late in such situations will likely remain a mystery to us. Messy could have been spared a great deal of suffering.
An infected wound is usually easy to treat, but in this case the advanced maggot infestation made a comprehensive wound debridement necessary.
Afterwards, Messy received antibiotics and pain medication. At first, we were unsure whether she would pull through, but she showed an impressive will to live.
Her small body still shows slight twitches as a result of surviving distemper, but fortunately they do not affect her. On the contrary – Messy is always cheerful, ready for any kind of mischief, and her lovable nature regularly brightens the mood of the entire team.
Messy is allowed to stay with us forever. Here, she receives loving care and all the medical attention she may ever need.
