This is Pablo, another pet that has been disposed of like garbage after many years. We found him right outside our clinic, curled up and shaking with fear.
He was only 5 years old, but already a burden in the eyes of his owner. Pablo was weak, only skin and bones, with hardly any fur left and covered in wounds. We took him in and upon examination found he weighed only 19.6kg, was highly positive for Demodex mites and also suffered from babesiosis (tick fever). Pablo was starving and threw himself on his first bowl.
Pablo was quite scared and snappy at the time of the rescue, but he's already relaxed now that he knows he's in a safe place. We were able to bring the boxer mix back to normal weight within a few weeks, but we will have to take care of him for the rest of his life. Due to his bad past, he is very prone to illnesses and so we were delighted when one of our employees decided to adopt him. Like this, we can make sure he is doing great and whenever he might fall ill we'll be there for him. We visit Pablo monthly to make sure he is doing good.
