Roja was just one year old when she was brought to our clinic by her owner. Her condition was heartbreaking: she was severely neglegted, underweight, already showing signs of organ failure, and suffering from a high fever.
Her state of health was life-threatening. Over an extended period of time, her owner had passively watched as Roja’s condition continued to deteriorate. Unfortunately, we encounter such severe cases of neglect almost every day.
We had to fear for Roja’s life for a long time. In addition to the clear signs of severe neglect, she also tested positive for babesiosis. However, Roja demonstrated remarkable resilience: she gradually stabilized and began eating on her own again.
Today, Roja is a cheerful dog who shows great affection toward her caregivers at the DCC.
Roja will not return to her former owner. She remains with us, where she receives ongoing medical care and the love and compassion every dog deserves.
