Caramel and Woody are of the same heart and soul and so it was clear to us that only a joint adoption would come into question. It's difficult enough to home ONE dog, but two at once is almost impossible - and in fact, nobody was interested in Caramel and Woody for a long time.
Both were tiny puppies when they came to us. We found Caramel on our feeding tour, where she was abandoned on the side of the road with her 5 siblings. Woody came to us as a newborn puppy along with his mother and five other siblings. We raised all puppies.
When they became older it was clear that they would not find a home because by the age of 5 to 6 months the dogs are already too old for most people here. We were therefore looking for a suitable home as part of our DCC 50+ program. Through the DCC 50+ program, we give the dogs that no one wants to older poor local people. In return for caring for the dogs, they receive a monthly pension. We check the dogs monthly through unannounced inspection visits.
We also visit Caramel and Woody every month. Of course, this means additional costs for us, but such a program can only function with continuous monitoring.
