DCC dog since: 4 years and 8 months
Description:

We rescued a total of 13 dogs from their prison in Hikkaduwa. Ellie Mae is one of them. The American owner had left the country and hired a Sri Lankan neighbour to take care of her dogs. He locked the animals in a small dark room in the house and occasionally fed them.Like this, the poor dogs lived for several months in the midst of their own feces!!!

When we learned about the terrible situation, we immediately freed the dogs. Most of them were completely traumatized, emaciated and sick. At the clinic we nursed them back to health and socialized them. Today we are still taking care of all 13 dogs - we haven't heard from the actual owner in a long time.

Ellie Mae has overcome her past well and has regained trust in people. However, she did not feel comfortable in her pack and so we decided to place her in our DCC 50+ program. Here she is a part of the familyFor Ellie Mae, this is the perfect solution. Her family is very poor and receives a monthly pension from us, with which they can provide for the dog and also have something left over for themselves. The DCC 50+ program is a real win-win situation.

We visit Ellie Mae every month to make sure she is doing well.

We would be very happy if you would support Ellie Mae and her family as a sponsor.
