| DCC dog since: | 6 years and 10 months |
Constance and Wally share - like so many dogs here - a common fate: Both were heartlessly abandoned in front of our clinic. We found Constance in front of our garage and Wally on the wall to our cow enclosure. While Constance was trusting from the beginning, Wally was very scared. With time, however, Wally also gained confidence, but the clinic was so full that we had no possibility to keep the dogs. Therefore, the only option was a placement in our DCC 50+ program. Here the dogs have found a great home with a very poor family. For keeping the animals, the family receives a monthly pension from us. This way, man and animal are taken care of. We check every month if the dogs are in good condition.
We combine animal welfare with humanitarian aid, because in a poor country like Sri Lanka you can't have one without the other. We also have to involve the population if we want to improve the quality of life of the dogs in the long run.
Update January 2025: Unfortunately, Constance died of acute liver and kidney failure. We would have loved to have given her many more happy years. We will of course continue to look after Wally.
As a sponsor of Wally you support the dog AND the family in need - a real win-win situation!
