When we found Janosch, he wouldn’t stop trying to use everything as a scratching tool. He is super friendly but was incredibly uncomfortable in his itchy skin. All he could do was to fidget around trying to find a way to scratch. His skin was so irritated and full of wounds, we can only imagine how uncomfortable he must have been. It was truly heartbreaking to witness such a nice dog dumped in such awful condition. We found him nearby our clinic, he was clearly dumped by his owner.

The cause of his skin problems were demodex mites. Additionally, he tested positive for babesiosis. These are two super common diseases in Sri Lanka, which unfortunately all too often are neither correctly diagnosed nor properly treated. Janosch's recovery took many weeks. Since we did't want to put him back on the street under any circumstances, we placed him through our DCC 50+ program with a local family. The family has a very low income only and now receives a monthly pension from us in return for taking care of Janosch. In this way, we can help the dog as well as the people.
To fund the monthly pension and our check-uo visits we are urgently searching for sponsors.
