Patrick and Melina

Name: Patrick and Melina
Breed: Mix
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog since: 9 years and 4 months
Description:

Patrick and Melina have had a similar fate. Both dogs grew up on the streets of Sri Lanka. When we found them they already had suffered tremendously from the harsh conditions. We took them in and nursed them back up.

Luckily, Patrick as well as Melina got adopted by local famlies through our ReHome program. But Melina was returned a few months later because her family had lost interest in her. When we picked up Patrick for his castration we noticed his family hadn't taken care of him properly. He was too skinny and so we didn't return him.

By now, both dogs were "too old" to have chance for adoption and as we always have a shortage of space we put them both in our unique (but very costly) social adoption program, the DCC 50+. Through this program we connect animal welfare with the aid for needy people.

Patrick and Melina have a safe home now and their poor family gets a monthly pension from the DCC in order to be able to care for the dogs.
