Sansa and Aroma both live in our social adoption scheme, DCC 50+, through which we help people and animals alike.
We found Sansa as a puppy dumped with her siblings on the route of one of <link 25#306 - internal-link "Opens internal link in current window">our tours</link> and brought her to the clinic. Aroma was tied up with a rope in front of our clinic. She was in a pitiful condition:
In the clinic, we nursed up Sansa and her siblings as well as Aroma. Female dogs are of very low value in Sri Lanka and so neither of them found a place in our rehome program. Due to a constant lack of space we eventually put them in the DCC 50+ where they now live with an elder needy Sri Lankan couple. They provide a home for the dogs and we pay them a monthly pension in return. Like this, not only are the dogs well taken care of but the elders receive a much needed (additional) income, too. There is no proper pension scheme in Sri Lanka.
We visit all the dogs in the DCC 50+ once a month and provide free medical care whenever needed.
All this needs to be funded and so we are hoping for many nice sponsors who help us to keep up this program!
