When Niky came to us her fur was so badly matted we had to shave it all off. What was hidden underneath broke our hearts. Poor Niky's emaciated body was covered in wounds. Some of them were already maggot-infested. Her injury to the neck clearly showed she had been on a chain for a long time.
In the beginning, it was very challenging to treat Niky because she was very snappy. This didn't really come as a surprise considering her past.
With us, Niky learned to trust again and after a few weeks she has turned into a completely different dog. However, she never been back to full health as the abuse in her past has had left its traces.
And sadly, in March 2022, her past caught up with Niky and she passed of organ failure. We are incredibly sad that this beautiful and sweet dog had to die at such a young age.
