Age: ca 14 years and 7 months
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog for: 8 years and 7 months
Description:

Sally is one of thousands of owner dogs suffering under incompetence, ignorance or evilness of their owners. Sadly, not only stray dogs endure a harsh life in Sri Lanka but also too many owner dogs which should be taken well care of.

First time we met Sally was in September 2015 when he was brought with severe fungus by his owner. She must have had ignored her dog's suffering for weeks before bringing him to us (wih a big happy grin on her face).

Eventhough we don't want to return dogs like Sally to their owners our hands are tight when it comes to laws. After treatment was finished we decided to visit Sally regularly on our control tour though - no matter how far we would have to drive.

In the beginning everything looked fine but when Sally started again showing signs of skin infections we literally had to beg the owner to bring the dog to the clinic. Again, Sally had to stay for several weeks of treatment.

Again, we cared for him via our visit tour after returning home. It didn't take too long for the owner to again totally ignore the medical situation of her dog. Laws or no laws - enough is enough! We couldn't  silently watch if a dog is suffering and so we took Sally with us. We would never have returned him to this lady, even if we would have had to pay her a compensation.

But she never showed interest in Sally again and so he could enjoy a safe and well protected sunset with us as DCC Resident - the elder gentlemen spent a happy time with us, we would have wished him many more golden years, but in April 2019 he left us forever.
