Gertrud

Name: Gertrud
Breed: Mix
Gender: Female
Age: ca 1 year and 2 months
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog since: 1 year and 1 month
Description:

The fate of Gertrud seemed to be already sealed. As a puppy of a street dog, she had little chance of a good life. She was born between rubble, dirt and street dust. Her mother was severely malnourished and hardly had the strength to care for her puppies. When we were informed about the family, we immediately brought them to safety, even though they were far out of our area. But if we had not acted, Gertrud would not be alive anymore.

We bottlefed her and her siblings until they were old enough for solid food. Gertrud turned out great, but as a brown female it was hardly possible to place her. Dogs like Gertrud have no value in the eyes of most people here. So we finally decided to place Gertrud in our DCC 50+ program. She now lives with a poor family who receive a monthly pension from us to care for the dog. This way, we help people AND animals.

We think that Gertrud deserves a happy life as a brown female too!
