Judica

Name: Judica
Breed: Mix
Gender: Female
Age: ca 4 years and 10 months
Neutered/Spayed: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
DCC dog since: 4 years and 8 months
Description:

Like for so many other dogs, Judica's DCC life began when we found her abandoned on the street. Together with her siblings, she was simply thrown into the bushes. We don't know if we found the whole litter It is possible that some of them ran away in panic, were run over or chased away.

We brought Judica and her two brothers to safety and nursed them back to health. While we were able to place both males, no one was interested in the brown girl. With her color and gender, Judica had little chance of finding a home and so she stayed with us on the clinic grounds.

However, as our space is limited and we have to ensure that there is enough room for injured and acutely ill animals, we finally placed Judica in our DCC 50+ program. Here she now lives with a poor animal-loving family. The husband of the family is unable to work due to an eye condition. One of the daughters has severe physical and mental disabilities. The family receives no support from the state for their disabled daughter. Through our DCC 50+ program, the family now receives a monthly pension with which they can provide for Judica and has some additional money for their own living expenses. This helps both people and animals!

We visit Judica every month and make sure that she is doing well with her family, but of course all this comes at a high cost. However, in a poverty-stricken country like Sri Lanka you have to combine animal welfare with helping those in need in order to bring about long-term change.
