Once again our hearts were shattered into million pieces and our eyes couldn't believe what we had to witness.
This is Rexi, he was only a couple of months old, he was just a puppy. An innocent puppy. He was brought to the clinic with extensive burns on his back, the neighbours have been accused of throwing hot water at him. He had 4th degree burns from the top of the neck to the base of the tail. Burns are one of the most painful injuries and recovery from it it’s very long and challenging. He did not deserve any of this. No one deserves to be burnt.
There are no real animal welfare laws to protect animals in Sri Lanke and evil people will go unpunished for their awful acts. But we are here to pick up the pieces, we are here to save and help the poor dogs.
Rexi underwent weeks of daily wound care and he did it like a champ! Eventually, his horrible wound was healed completely and Rexi was ready to finally find a good home. His actually owner never took him back... We got adopted through our social adoption scheme, the DCC 50+.
Together with two other DCC dogs he now lives with a kind poor family. In return for taking care of the dogs we pay them a monthly pension. Like this, we combine animal aid with humanitarian aid.
