We suddenly came across Ron one day in the clinic parking lot. He had probably just been abandoned there. We actually had no more room for new residents at the clinic, but of course we couldn't just leave poor Ron to his fate. He was very thin and suffered from a fungal infection. So we took him in and treated him.
When Ron was fully recovered, we still had the problem that we had no more space in the clinic. We didn't want to put Ron on the street, so we finally placed him in our DCC 50+ program. He now lives with an elderly Sinhalese woman in need, who lovingly looks after Ron with her family. We support the family with a monthly pension and thus secure Ron a home for life. The DCC 50+ program is a real win-win situation for everyone involved.
As a sponsor, you not only support Ron, but also help his needy family. In a poor country like Sri Lanka, we need to combine animal welfare with humanitarian aid to bring about lasting change.
